Umar Juoro is currently an Independent Commissioner at HSBC Indonesia. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Habibie Center and Asia Competitiveness Institute, LKY School of Public Policy National University of Singapore. He is also the Special Advisor for the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economy.
Previously, he was Chairman of Supervisory Board of Bank Indonesia, the Independent Commissioner of Maybank Indonesia, an Advisor for Barclays Capital and Credit Suisse Singapore, as well as an Assistant for Economy, Finance, and Industry to President Habibie. He was a consultant for the World Bank, ADB, UNDP and ILO. He graduated with a degree in Physics from the Bandung Institute of Technology and Economics from the University of the Philippines and Boston University.
